歷經昨日聖誕大戰和勇士的激戰，LeBron James在27日客場出戰活塞時高掛免戰牌輪休，活塞也毫不客氣地以106比90擊敗騎士，中止5連敗。
騎士總教練Tyronn Lue透露自己是在賽前1個多鐘頭時決定讓James輪休，James在前役面對勇士時上場40分鐘，拿下31分並抓下本季新高13籃板，至於貸款信用評分表前役上場44分鐘的Kyrie Irving，Lue表示Irving在上周已獲得充分休息，所以沒有要讓他輪休的想法。
結果Irving此役20投僅中8，拿下18分8助攻，Kevin Love拿下17分14籃板，騎士此役團隊命中率僅38％，從頭輸到尾。
活塞以替補上陣的Tobias Harris拿下21分表現最佳，先發5人全部得分上雙，Kentavious Caldwell-Pope拿下18分，Andre Drummond則是拿下11分狂抓17籃板。
活塞此戰以57.1％的命中率投進16顆三分球，並在開賽就打出8比0的攻勢，奠定勝基。
包含此役在內，James本季輪休的3場比賽騎士皆輸球，自2014年回歸騎士後，James若缺陣騎士戰績為4勝18敗。
